Captain Neil grew up on the water. He has spent his entire life on Boats. Started working at New River Marina in Ft Lauderdale in High School, a Coast Guard Veteran, a Sea Tow Captain, Private Yacht Captain & Founder of Safely Moored just to name a few. He is a Member of the Coast Guard Auxiliary & Lauderdale Small Boat Club. Safely Moored invented the idea of helping people learn to operate their boat safely and more confidently than they thought was possible
John started fishing offshore at the age of 5 with his father and got his first completely gutted 13’ Boston Whaler when he was 8. He used to take his whaler to work at TAHA Marine Center at age 12 and did so for 5 years. In High School, he upgraded to a 22’ Hydra-Sports and started free diving, scuba diving, spearfishing and more. John spent more time on the boat than at home.
While working for the Water Taxi as first mate at 18, he realized he must acquire a Captain's License and never looked back. Since then, he’s upgraded several times and currently holds a 200T Near Coastal license and all the credentials to support it. He has run a 200 passenger Ferry in Boston and as HMY’s Corporate Captain practically every new Viking Yacht in the lineup.
After working with Yacht Management he started his own business, Liberty Yacht Services. This has allowed John the “liberty” to travel via water to many great ports including most of the Bahamas and completing the Great American loop.
As things tend to in the South Florida Marine Industry, you can't help but run into like minded Captains. John & Neil met a few years ago and have done business together and always had a mutual respect in knowing how each came into the business and the love of boating. So when the opportunity presented itself, it was a simple decision to join Safely Moored Yacht Sales.
In addition to managing boats he also runs a 95 Azimut. He doesn’t sleep much but loves every minute of it. John may not get much rest but he is excited to share his experience with you whether you are buying a new boat or selling the old one.
